"Currently working toward a PhD in Education (Policy, Leadership, and School Improvement) at UNC Chapel Hill. I graduated in June '24 with my Masters in Education from Northwestern University. I've been an educator in a formal setting for the past 7 years. Prior to attending Northwestern and working within the Evanston and greater Chicagoland community, I taught 2nd and 7th-grade classes at a local organization twice a week for the duration of the school year for three years of high school. There, I had the opportunity to apply various teaching methods and discover how study habits differ for each student. My tutoring continued when I also began volunteering at a community center in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood. There, I worked with adult English Language Learners and facilitated citizenship test preparation for aspiring applicants.
During my subsequent phase, I began private tutoring during my Freshman year of college. I've since worked with students in numerous areas of study, including BC Calculus, which resulted in a well-deserved A, English proficiency, and ACT preparation, for which the students saw an average increase of 3 points. One particular experience consisted of working with my student, then 10 years old, to build upon English proficiency skills, resulting in a 43 percentile jump in a year and a half on the MAP test (NWEA) and successful entry into an elite magnet school in Chicago for a trilingual student. I continued to work with this student for 2.5 years, until I left for UNC, and saw immense growth in the English language, particularly colloquially. A unique focus of mine is identifying the specific needs of each student and finding outside resources to supplement pre-existing materials to tailor the sessions to them.
Received a Bachelor of Science in Education and Social Policy with honors from Northwestern University
