"My educational philosophy is to promote an overall desire to learn, while presenting lesson material using history, research, and/or reliable information to gain a student’s conceptual, intellectual, and academic understanding and knowledge of the topic. I attempt to inspire a love of learning in children in their formative years (K-6), as it is essential to attain this attribute early in their development to facilitate future growth. I identify weaknesses in content learning and augment and enhance knowledge of subject matter using a variety of accepted and innovative techniques.
I have taught various grades from 2nd to 9th grades in a private supplementary school for the past 12 years in the following subject areas: Hebrew, Bible, Ethics, Israel, and other related topical areas. For adults, I have provided educational/technical training with measurable success in the areas of human behavior, software development methodologies, and software product usage. I've also taught sewing to adults and children, from beginners to advanced levels, for many years.
I have taken a series of teacher professional development seminars given by Norma-Krasne-Levine, Ed.D., on “Knowledge of the Student; Knowledge of the Teacher,” “Readers’ Theater,” “Tools for Learning,” “Observation Techniques,” “Reflections and Assessment,” et al. I also received Chicago Math training from Sue Sereboff, Masters in Special Education, LD Certified, Certified Diagnostician, Texas State Certification for Tutoring. I graduated from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, with a BSE Computer Science (minor in Business) cum laude with 3.667 grade point average.
Over the years, I have taught students with autism, aspergers, ADHD, dyslexia, and a variety of other learning differences. I have successfully tutored high school students with learning differences on a variety of subjects. Students were accepted into college.
In 2013-2014, I tutored Middle School children (6th-8th grades) in 2 schools on mathematics as part of a special contra" less...
