"My name is Matt. I am able to tutor in many subjects, and I taught math, science, and English overseas. I was a teacher in the Peace Corps for 2 years, where I taught underprivileged students. Subjects taught there included biology, chemistry, physics, physical science, high school English, algebra, geometry, trig, and a slew of other topics. I have spent about 10 years tutoring middle and high school age students, mostly in math and science areas, including algebra, prealgebra, arithmetic, and middle school science; more recently, my experience has shifted towards high school and college level math and science, from algebra 1 through calculus and middle school science through advanced college science courses. I am also able to tutor in basic history and Spanish. I can go at your own pace, and I am flexible with my schedule. I tailor my tutoring approach to the needs of the student(s). I offer alternative approaches to topics that help students understand the material and do more than just repeat it back to the teachers.

I tutored math for many years. I also majored in chemical engineering as well as chemistry in college, where I took 3 years of calculus as well as differential equations. I also took many chemistry, biology, physics, and other science related courses. I graduated early, graduating with the double degree (meaning two separate Bachelor's degrees) in 3.5 years. I started taking college classes when I was 16. I currently manage a chemical research lab and am a professional research scientist, so I use many of the topics that I can tutor on a daily basis.
