"Hi, I'm Alwena! I believe it's important to encourage learning and cultivate an environment that allows it. For the past 4 years, I've been a tutor and am experienced in online tutoring, I've taught students from 5-17 years old and am currently tutoring remotely from UCLA.

In high school, I was a tutor for PETS Tutoring Club. The club provides a comfortable learning environment for students to get help with schoolwork. Anyone could walk in, so I have experience working with various types of people. In my Senior year, my school coordinators selected me to join AIM. I was a mentor that supported incoming Freshmen in transitioning not only to High School, but also online learning. I held meetings for my group of 10 mentees to provide connections and guidance.

In the start of quarantine, I founded Journey of Education, a student-led organization that offers 1st-8th grade students free, accessible virtual sessions to help students thrive at home. Working with younger students made me more patient and encouraging, especially since many technological or situational issues may occur. I communicated with parents and regularly, resolving any concerns.

Math Qualifications:

I received a perfect score (800) on the Math portion of the SAT, received a 4 on the AP Calc BC Test, and am excelling in higher-level math classes at UCLA such as Discrete Math and Calculus II.

Art Qualifications:

I was awarded Silver Key in the Scholastic Art Awards, a national youth art competition. Additionally, I interned at The YUNiversity where I created independent pieces and collaborated with other interns for mixed media projects.

I only offer online tutoring, not in-person! I also provide a free, optional 15-20 minute online introduction where we can get to know each other, talk about logistics, and see if we're the right fit.
