"I hold a PhD and MS in Computer Science and MS in Mathematics. As a university professor or graduate teaching assistant, I taught several courses in computer science, computer programming, web development, and mathematics for more than 15 years. I earned an Outstanding Teaching Assistant in Computer Science award at two different universities. Since then, I have been an online Wyzant tutor for more than 6 years.

My web development courses involved HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and SQL. Programming languages I have taught include Java, C++, Visual Basic, and Python. Java is my strongest programming language, especially GUI applications. My mathematics teaching experience includes discrete math, especially focusing on counting problems. I continue to learn new topics, programming languages, and web technologies to widen the array of subjects that I teach.

My teaching methods involve detailed step-by-step live examples and explanations. I am skilled in resolving errors in programs, as well as improving coding style and organization. I work best in one-on-one online teaching environments.

On the Wyzant platform, I have worked with a variety of students ranging from middle school aged to adult professionals. Some needed assistance with a programming assignment or exam review for a college or high school AP course. Others were enrolled in an online coding bootcamp in web development. Still others wanted to independently learn web design or programming, in which I provided lessons based on my own curriculum.
