"I hold a PhD and MS in Computer Science and MS in Mathematics. As a university professor or graduate teaching assistant, I taught several courses in computer science, computer programming, web development, and mathematics for more than 15 years. I earned an Outstanding Teaching Assistant in Computer Science award at two different universities. Since then, I have been an online Wyzant tutor for more than 7 years.
My web development courses involved web design with HTML and CSS, and web programming with JavaScript, PHP, and SQL. Programming languages I have taught include Java, C++, Visual Basic, and Python. Java is my strongest programming language, especially GUI applications. My mathematics teaching experience includes discrete math, especially focusing on counting problems. I continue to learn new topics, programming languages, and web technologies to widen the array of subjects that I teach.
My teaching methods involve detailed step-by-step live examples and explanations. I am skilled in resolving errors in programs, as well as improving coding style and organization. I work best in one-on-one online teaching environments.
On the Wyzant platform, I have worked with a variety of students ranging from middle school aged to adult professionals. Some needed assistance with a programming assignment or exam review for a college or high school AP CS course. Others were enrolled in an online coding bootcamp in web development and JavaScript. Still others wanted to independently learn web design or Java programming, in which I provided lessons based on my own curriculum.
When I work with students, I ask them for assignment instructions in advance so that I am well-prepared and my lessons are more efficient and effective. I guarantee student satisfaction. Students will not be charged for a lesson if I am not able to help.
I am eager to work with students to assist with assignments, coding exercises, exam preparation, and learning a new subject. Contact me for more information and to schedule a lesson!" less...
