"Hello! I am a certified Special Education teacher who has been teaching in the Connecticut public school system for 20 years. I have a Master's degree from Fairfield University with a major in Special Education, and I hold a Professional teaching certificate with the State of Connecticut in Comprehensive Special Education (Grades K - 12). I also have a Wilson Level I certification with the title, Dyslexia Practitioner.

I have experience working with all age levels of students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. I teach reading, writing, and mathematics with students 1:1 and in small groups in the resource setting, general education classroom, and outside of school as a tutor. In addition, I have helped students with executive functioning skills and college preparation. I also have extensive knowledge in the areas of diagnostic testing and progress monitoring for growth.

Teaching struggling readers is my passion, and I pride myself on making each of my lessons meaningful as well as fun! My reading lessons focus on decoding and encoding words in isolation and words within sentences. Each student begins with a baseline assessment to assess strengths and weaknesses, and I chart students so that we both see their progress! I incorporate important reading comprehension and vocabulary building within each lesson. We target fluency and accuracy with built in running records of controlled passages. My lessons are systematic and engaging, but most importantly use the science of reading to help students read and write. I am easy to reach and will respond in a timely manner.
