I am a full-time, state-certified AP English teacher with over a decade of experience in the classroom. I earned my bachelor's degree in English and my master's degree in teaching. Prior to becoming a full-time teacher, I tutored students in middle school and college. Now, in my twelfth year in the classroom, I teach AP Lang and a weekly SAT Prep course.

I decided to join Wyzant after giving private English lessons to a high school freshman who failed his first semester of English class but, after working with me, went on to pass the course. Turning this student's performance around inspired me to offer my English expertise to additional clients.

I am comfortable working with students from early childhood to adulthood, including those with learning disabilities. Students I teach and tutor have achieved strong growth and outstanding results, such as recovering from a failing semester and surpassing national and state averages on the AP Lang exam.

I tailor my tutoring lessons to meet the unique needs of students. Lessons may work towards a single goal, such as achieving an exceptional SAT score or crafting a compelling college essay, or focus on general skills like clear and concise writing, analytical reading, time and task management, and effective study habits. A typical tutoring session may include a review of the previous week's content, reflection and goal-setting, introduction to new material, and practice. However, this structure will vary depending on each student's needs.

I am warm and personable, and I maintain high expectations for all students. I am skilled at employing a variety of instructional strategies, including the use of innovative AI technology to provide adaptive practice, to suit different learning styles.
