"Hello! I am honored to be your tutor. Teaching is the most profound joy of my life because I get to watch students break boundaries all the time! With me, the learning experience will be catered to specific needs, and I will go above and beyond to challenge you or your child. I worked for a reputable college and test prep program in San Francisco for five years and witnessed students from over forty seven nations achieve success in the American university system. I love helping people fine-tune college applications and define what it is they want. Having been trained by a leading publisher for test preparation textbooks and curriculum, I am confident in my approach to improving student outcomes on standardized tests, specifically the TOEFL ,and IELTS exams. I have also worked from an insider perspective in admissions converting grade point averages and reading college applications! Most of all, I have a passion for creatively helping students identify strengths and reach goals.
I hold a master's degree in Education from the University of Illinois as well as a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Spanish from Loyola University in Maryland, graduating with honors. I have tutored students of all ages specializing in ESL, Spanish, English, language arts development, reading, creative writing and literature as well as the arts and basic guitar. Working with children aided my development as an educator with the opportunity to implement guitar and voice in the classroom. Because of the nuances not found in other forms of writing, I find music a compelling tool for development in both of the languages I teach. I hope to expand in teaching music to varying ages. I am committed to making marked progress by observing learning styles and integrating students’ interests into lessons. I am an open book, ready to help my students open their books and reach the stars!" less...
