"I received my BFA from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2015 and have a background in several social sciences including sociology, anthropology, and psychology. In addition, I have backgrounds in creative writing, art history, and digital art. From my own personal experiences I can say that the instances in which I learned the most were the instances in which my tutors, teachers, and professors were clearly passionate about the subject. I am passionate both about the subjects themselves, but also the opportunity to share that passion with someone willing to listen.

A gateway to my love or grammar was, of course, reading! I had always been fascinated on how authors crafted their stories and about how essay writers could clearly and concisely convey their points by using literary elements. In High School I enrolled in every AP English class that I could and was delighted to find out that there are certain literary formulas that make up every sentence we read. Knowing these formulas has not only helped me comprehend literature more efficiently, but it has also helped me in my own writing!

I have been traditionally trained in several medias including (but not limited to) acrylic and oil paints, block printing, screen printing, lithographic printing, graphite and ink drawing, as well as assemblage art. Though my major focuses on traditional media art, I always strive to learn and engage in the digital art world and see how the two schools of art overlap and intermingle. This evolution of traditional media is both exciting and fascinating to me through the lens of art history as well as my background as an artist. It is my goal to get young students excited in the arts by showing them how far "art" can extend over a variety of mediums, subjects, and disciplines. I also would like to help students think critically about art as it relates to the world around them.
