"Hello, my name is Alish. I have been in education for five years and love working with young learners. I began teaching after graduating from UW Madison with a degree in psychology. I joined Teach for America and taught preschool for two years. During my time in preschool, I taught 3-5 year olds and created meaningful learning experiences through play. Then, I transitioned to an elementary school. I wanted to learn more about formal education in public schools. I love teaching early learners. I adore the eagerness to learn and the flexibility of their minds.

I have taught math to students ages 3-7. I have navigated two different curricula and assessment protocols. I deeply believe that math is a hands on experience and many students need different approaches to master math concepts.

I have my master's in early childhood learning with a certificate in English as a Second Language. I have taught reading using a guided approach as well as a workshop model.

Phonics is crucial to the development of early readers. I have used many different phonics programs to enhance children's interest and level of reading and writing.
