"I graduated from the University of Maryland in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Science and highest honors certificate in my pre-medical program. I am now set to begin medical school at Rush Medical College in August of 2025, something I never would have achieved without identifying my own learning style and adapting my studying and test-taking methods accordingly. For the past 5 years I have helped others do the same through tutoring!
In my college freshman calculus class, I began with low grades despite studying for long hours, so, I changed my approach. I went back to the basics and switched from memorization to incorporating more practice. I saw my grades improve significantly, ended the semester with the highest grade in the class, and began gaining confidence. Wanting to provide others with the same experience, I started tutoring algebra and pre-calculus to peers one-on-one. I took what I learned from this and applied it to my science courses with great success. I became a microbiology teaching assistant and held study hours 2x/week for 8 months to a class of about 20 college students. Since college, I have been tutoring elementary through high school students in algebra 1 and 2, biology, physics, and ELA reading/writing. I have roughly 160 hours of experience teaching these subjects. I also have about 40 of experience working with high school students on SAT/ACT test preparation. I have not yet taught MCAT preparation, but I learned countless ways of improving my test-taking skills when I studied for this exam myself. I raised my score from a 487 to a 512, and I want to provide other student with the tools necessary to reach the same success.
I enjoy working one-on-one with students as it allows the space for us to go back to the basics in the subject they are struggling with before moving on to more challenging topics. My main goal as a tutor is to provide students with the confidence they need to succeed and to teach them studying skills that are transferable to all topics of study." less...
