"Hello! I’m Brandon, a recent graduate from Vassar College with a BA in philosophy. I scored a 1550/1600 (99th+ percentile) on the SAT on my first attempt in 2018, so I know firsthand what it takes to achieve a high score on the SAT. Having been through the SAT prep process myself, I believe that a tutor’s job must go beyond merely identifying and correcting a student’s mistakes. To this end, I provide students with a personalized, thorough, and holistic analysis of their strengths and weaknesses. Through this, we can examine trends within a student’s work and identify the underlying conceptual misunderstandings at the root of a student’s mistakes. This allows us to set actionable goals by targeting specific areas for improvement. I firmly believe that one hour of focused and purposeful tutoring is far superior to multiple hours spent aimlessly grinding away at practice tests, and my goal is to make the SAT prep process as efficient and painless as possible.

I have several years of experience as a private tutor, working one-on-one with students. Additionally, I spent a summer as a TA for a class of elementary school students, giving lessons to a full class. I began tutoring at a private practice during the summer of my junior year of high school and continued throughout my senior year and during college breaks (at least until COVID began). I worked with students of all grade levels, covering subjects from basic addition and subtraction to trigonometry and analyses of Pride and Prejudice. I also spent a year as a volunteer tutor providing remedial tutoring for middle school students. I helped students to hone their study skills while we worked through their homework assignments.

At a time when college admissions and scholarships are more competitive than ever, I recognize that the SAT is an incredibly important part of one’s future. As such, I am always grateful for the trust that you place in me as a tutor, and it is always my pleasure to help a student achieve the score of their dreams." less...
