"I hold a BM in Music from George Mason University. During my undergrad, I performed flute in various ensembles including Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, Jazz Combos, and Latin American Ensemble. I was privileged to study classical flute under the tutelage of Julianna Nickel and Jenny Lapple, jazz flute with Kenny Rittenhouse, as well as aural skills and conducting with Mr. Anthony Maiello. These opportunities expanded my musical horizon and inspired many of my teaching styles today. I encourage all of my students to perform in at least one ensemble outside of private lessons to experience a new level of challenges, responsibilities, rhythmic energy, and everlasting fun.

I cater my lessons to my students’ personal needs. I conduct a typical first session with a student by introducing myself, allowing the student to introduce himself, share with me his areas of strength and areas of improvement within the content, ask their goal for today’s lesson, and begin to formulate a road map based on my student’s needs. I incorporate the students’ areas of strength and improvement to pinpoint areas in the lesson that I can spend extra time clarifying. Clarification can include call-and-response, visual, aural, kinesthetic aids, and asking the student guided questions to activate their critical thinking. I like to conclude the lesson with a recap of what we learned to reinforce the material, review student’s goal and provide feedback, assign and explain next lesson’s homework, and take any last questions the student may have.
