"Teaching is by far my greatest passion, and since graduating from Ball State University I have been fortunate enough to gain experience teaching as an Instructional Assistant at Carmel High School and as a certified teacher at Rushville Consolidated High School. I have also been teaching color guard since 2006. I have taught and assisted all grades at the high school level while developing my teaching and behavior management skills. In addition, having recently graduated from Ball State University, I have been trained to use the most current research-based instructional strategies to improve student achievement, and was able to begin putting that training into practice during my time teaching this past year.
The critical thinking skills that students learn in an English class are the necessary tools needed to solve future problems that our world will face, in addition to problems they will have to face themselves. Due to this gravity, I understand that developing and improving upon my instructional skills is a continuous process. Therefore, I am very grateful for my diverse experiences thus far. These experiences have allowed me to develop the ability to engage students of different ages and to differentiate and accommodate instruction to best meet each student’s needs.
