"Hi! My name is Jacob and I've been tutoring since high school. I got my start helping lowerclassmen (ages 14-18) complete their homework in after school clubs covering all subjects. This included math, science, social studies, English, and even elective courses like computer science. Throughout my experience, I have always received accolades and compliments from my students, often hearing that I'm the best tutor they've ever had. This is why, when I entered college, I continued tutoring by working under the Academic Learning Center at the University of Kansas where I held weekly sessions with a recurring group of students (ages 18-24) for Python programming courses, and I also assisted students with math/CS courses in one-on-one sessions in-person. Last Summer, I applied to be a tutor at JCCC and I was accepted quickly, but unfortunately, I was unable to work there due to a scheduling conflict. Throughout my whole school career, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA and have taken as many advanced courses as possible. I'm currently a senior student at university having done only four semesters so far (I had a lot of high school credit). My SAT score is 1470 which is in the 99th percentile. However, what I think best sets me apart from other tutors is my experience with a variety of learning styles. I've been exposed to a wide range of students throughout high school and college, so I am better able to adapt my style and match my student's energy and learning style throughout our sessions. I hope to inspire a love for education in all my students, and give them the tools to better help themselves learn any subject. This has been a passion of mine for a long time now, and I'm proud to call myself a tutor." less...
