"I graduated from Barnard College in 2019. Barnard is a part of Columbia University. There, I majored in film and minored in French. While I am still pursuing my creative passions, I have found a career path in education. After taking yearbook photos one year, I discovered my knack for and enjoyment of working with kids. From there, I became a substitute teacher and was requested in February 2024 to become a permanent substitute at Southwark Elementary. I have taught or assisted with all grades from kindergarten to 8th.
I have also been working with the Philly Art Center at their day camps. Here, I work with children from the ages of 4 to 11, creating different artistic projects with all sorts of fun materials.
My approach to tutoring is one of curiosity. I try many methods at once to facilitate comprehension and explain in different ways to help students understand in the way they learn best. My philosophy is that we understand and remember things better if we find a way to the answer on our own. I prompt them with easier bits of information and show them the pathway to the solution.
