"Hi. I am a former teacher, newspaper writer and public speaker. I am friendly, courteous, punctual, enjoy helping others and volunteer at many non-profit organizations. My teaching style is to positively encourage all students to help them improve and reach their potential. I help students set goals, then work with them to reach them. My philosophy to overcoming challenges and discouragement is to remind students about the last four letter of American -- I CAN. My teaching style is to focus on the subject matter at hand and turn off all distractions, such as TV and cell phones.
My teaching certification (expired in 2013) was in Social Studies, grades 6-12. I was a Pasco County public school substitute teacher for three years. My teaching experience included all classroom subjects. In addition, I have many years of coaching middle school basketball and high school golf. For more than five years, I was a high school basketball referee.
Although I loved teaching in a classroom, I prefer one-on-one tutoring. I can tutor in several subjects, including reading, writing, history, geography and civics. As a former newspaper writer, I am well qualified to tutor English grammar, punctuation and proofreading.
If you are looking for a patient, dedicated tutor, I hope you consider me. I am confident I will exceed your expectations." less...
