"I am a former high school/junior college instructor who taught for a total of 28 years in Illinois and Texas. I love writing, and I know I can help students improve their writing skills. I have had numerous students who have told me in later years that they succeeded in college composition because of my classes and my expertise. That kind of comment makes me very proud!

I am known for being down-to-earth, being "human", being compassionate, and being a teacher who is more concerned about the student than herself. Throughout my career, many parents commented about how their child or children loved my classes, even though I demanded a lot and expected the students to succeed. These comments are reflected in my former students today as many of them, now adults with families, stay in touch and fill me in on how THEIR kids are doing and how they wish I could teach their children. Wow! I get misty-eyed when I hear these kinds of words because I always loved teaching and I loved my "kids"!

I have three children of my own and seven grandchildren. All of my kids are college graduates, and my grandchildren do well in school; they attend elementary and middle schools in Austin, Bastrop, and Houston, and all are successful so far. However, they are personable, outgoing, fun-loving, normal kids and adults. We have a very close family relationship, and we have lots of wonderful times together. We are accepting, understanding, and caring people!

I love children of all ages, and I have a good rapport with them. I even opened a daycare in my home when I left the teaching profession, and I loved those kids also! If anyone who knows me were asked about me as a person, I know my love for young people would be mentioned. (By the way, my husband is great around children also, and all of the kids love him dearly!)

All in all, I believe that YOU as students and YOU as parents would be quite satisfied having me as a tutor. I sure hope to meet you in the near future. Until then, take care...and I h" less...
