I find that learners are more successful when the lesson is engaging and fun. I work hard to create lessons that are purposeful and meaningful to the learner. This may mean that lessons include games, props, or songs that teach and reinforce lessons in a fun way.
I use a variety of tools, activities, and experiences to teach pre-reading skills to young learners and to bolster confidence in reluctant readers. Lessons can be adapted to meet the struggling learner's needs and/or provide challenges when appropriate.
I like to incorporate exciting topics into the lessons, and I adapt those to cater to the interests and needs of each learner. Literacy-focused lessons are my primary focus, but other concepts are easily taught through those lessons. I have a passion for teaching, and feel very strongly that the foundation of success is built through confidence in basic skills, as well as the desire and curiosity to learn more." less...
