"Few things are more fulfilling to me than tutoring. I love helping people work through a tricky problem. To help them go from thinking the assignment was impossible to identifying exactly what they don’t get. Helping them understand the part of the assignment that is holding them back. It’s an incredible feeling to share in their joy when they get a score on a test or assignment that they thought was far beyond their grasp. More than anything, I love when all the pieces come together in their mind. The flash of excitement and understanding in their eyes as they figure it all out. Inspired by my love of tutoring, I entered college certain I wanted to become a teacher.

In my experience, what holds most students back from their full potential is a struggle to identify what part of a problem they’re not getting. I’m not only here to help students understand the material, but how to find out those roadblocks to solving a problem. My job is to help students build problem-solving strategies to improve their skills and confidence.
After graduating from Connecticut college, I attended Merrimack's masters in education program before becoming a physics and chemistry teacher at Duxbury high school. All of my students sign a pledge "I will try, I will fail, and I will improve." If you're not struggling with a tough subject, you're not learning it: you've already learned it. And so every day I help build my student's perseverance and confidence that no matter how daunting a topic is, they can learn it." less...
