"I'm a parent of three grown children, all of whom have been or are teaching now -- and I'm one of the ones who helped them with their homework! I've made a living as a video writer and producer, so I know the English language, proper grammar and the visual arts. I'm a pretty voracious reader, so I'm familiar with much of the literature that young students will encounter, and probably a lot more besides. Additionally, I've been a choral musician most of my life, have composed quite a few choral pieces that have been performed by choirs in the area, and I'm pretty knowledgeable about music theory.

Although, I've never made my living as a teacher, I've often acted as a mentor for young and inexperienced workers in my field, and they all have told me I'm a good one-on-one teacher, with a logical approach to imparting knowledge. In those cases, I've tended to use a question-and-answer approach to encourage critical thinking to help the student think through the subject matter on his or her own.
