"Hello,
I am a student majoring in Information Technology & Systems Security. I've utilized computer systems in many aspects of life, much of which was spent with the US Air Force Auxiliary where I specialized as a ground rescue team leader and radio communications member. Both of these discipline relied heavily on the use of the Microsoft Office Suite for reporting/statistics as well as other software for mission planning or programming some systems. All of my abilities are currently within the Windows operating system.
With my time there we many times had to learn software as we went along so I've developed an ability to figure out a system and learn the ins and outs of it and teach my subordinates. As such, if there is a software that a student needs to learn that I haven't yet had the opportunity to learn about and had a means to obtain it I'd be more than happy to set aside time to learn about it and if able to get myself to a level that would be satisfactory for introducing others to it in a timely manner.
My main teaching method in relation to computers is with the student using their own desktop or laptop while I use my laptop beside them to demonstrate how items should look and where to find certain tools without having a cluttered feeling environment or reaching over one another. I feel that this hands on method with a separate objective to view helps solidify the learning by giving instant feedback and recognition that the student has proceeded to the point the instructor is at, as well as build a confidence in themselves on the system they will use." less...
