"My name is Madilyn and I have about a year to a year and a half of tutoring experience. I graduated from Wiesbaden High School in 2020 as an AP Scholar taking 7 total AP courses and passed all corresponding AP exams except for statistics, though I did pass the class itself. I made it into the Honors Program at King University. I completed one semester at King where I took their Honors Freshman English course alongside several other general studies classes. I also served as a TA for one of their Philosophy and Religion classes geared primarily for incoming freshman. My primary job as a TA for this class was to answer student questions and help them further develop their writing and critical thinking skills. I’ve also served as a tutor for my 9 year old cousin for the past year. I primarily do English and Math with a little bit of Social Studies. Another thing we focus on is self-efficacy and independence. I think it’s very important to start developing those skills while young so one isn’t drowning when they get older and have actual responsibilities on their shoulders. It’s fairly easy to incorporate this concept into schoolwork to help students learn these skills while they’re young. I do my best to make activities fun and applicable to real life when possible.
Tutoring my cousin has been incredibly rewarding and I’ve discovered I really enjoy helping people learn new things, even if those things are just basic skills. I love learning and I want to help instill a love of learning in others as well, especially those who may have had a harder time getting there. I’ve always enjoyed and excelled at the humanities subjects and I’m quite capable with math up until algebra. I also know that every student is different. I do my best to tailor my teaching method to what will make the most sense to your student for that particular topic. Different concepts sometimes need to be learned in different ways for different people and that’s alright." less...
