"I have 14 years of full-time experience teaching geography, history, and social-studies education courses at the university level. My bachelor's degree is in geography from the University of Kansas (3.93 out of 4.00 GPA), and I hold a master's and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in geography (3.92 out of 4.00 GPA), with a distributed minor in history, economics, and sociology.

I have taught each of the following courses multiple times at the university level: human geography, world regional geography, physical geography, economic geography, historical geography of the United States, natural resource conservation, world history, Latin American history, geography of tourism, and methods of teaching social studies. I have served as a social-studies education coordinator for four years at the university level, mentoring student teachers at various stages of their teacher preparation programs, and I have worked as a reader/scorer for the AP Human Geography exam on seven occasions.

Previously, I served as a teaching assistant in physical geography and human geography during completion of my master's degree. I also worked two years as a K-12 tutor in social studies in the Lawrence, Kansas, public schools, and one year as a tutor of geography for the University of Kansas tutoring services. I have a great deal of online teaching experience and am adept at providing real-time online instruction, lesson preparation and delivery, quick and accurate feedback, and improvement of subject matter mastery.

I also have a great deal of academic and real-world experience in geology and the geosciences, having incorporated different aspects of plate tectonics, volcanic studies, geomorphology, hydrology, and atmospheric science into coursework I have led in world regional geography, physical geography, and natural resource conservation. I have taken undergraduate and graduate courses, all with "A's," in physical geology, physical geology lab, historical geology, natural hazards, physical geography, and non-equilibrium perspectives in physical science.

I am also well qualified to help students prepare for the high-school PSAT test as well as writing projects at all academic levels. I also serve as an ASVAB test administrator and would be happy guiding students interested in improving their ASVAB scores for a potential career in the military.
