"I am a recent graduate from Georgia Tech in computer science with a GPA of 3.9. I have taken math coursework on Calculus, Differential Equations, Combinatorics and linear algebra, and computer science coursework in Java, Python, C, Machine Learning, Data Structures, and Parallel Computing.

At my high school I was a tutor in Math Honor Society for 3 years and Computer Science Honor Society for 2 years. I tutored mostly for Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalc, AP Computer Science, Chemistry and Physics. I have also helped many of my classmates in college courses. In my Boyscout troop I was an instructor and then the assistant senior patrol leader for instructors, where I led a team of instructors to teach outdoor skills like tying knots, packing tents, first aid and cooking. I learned the EDGE method of teaching in Boyscouts of Explain Demonstrate Guide Enable, and have found it works great when applied to math.

I think learning the underlying reasons why things work is the best method for learning math, both because it is simpler and more useful than memorizing every detail, and it better prepares students for future courses which builds on the existing ideas." less...
