"Hi, I'm Jessie! I graduated with my Bachelors Degree in English in 2016 and am currently enrolled in a graduate program to teach English for grades 7-12. I am in the student teaching process full time and my program will be completed in May 2025, where I will then be a fully certified teacher. I have a background in Digital Marketing and Social Media and recently decided to switch my career to Education since it is where my true passion lies. I have always loved English classes and have tutored casually for five years to both adolescent and college level students in one on one settings. Most of my tutoring has been geared towards essay writing, building reading comprehension skills and studying for standardized tests such as the regents exam and more.
I have also tutored students who were preparing to take the NYPD and Suffolk PD police tests as there is much overlap in the skills needed in reading comprehension. I think English is one of those classes that can be overwhelming for students and with my tutoring methods, I want to help act as the middle ground to help break things down in a way that makes sense for my individual students. Everyone learns differently and as a tutor it is my goal to ensure my students are taught the way that they learn and the way that will benefit them most. This can look like breaking down things visually for students who need that representation, finding audio passages, or developing graphic organizers that help break down and organize topics.
Whether you are a student looking to improve reading skills, comprehension skills, writing skills, test taking skills and more, I will work hard to make sure that the way I teach you is tailored to the way you learn. I will always do my best to make sure that we find a way to make learning fun and relatable so you get the most out of your experience learning with me.
I am easy to reach and have a flexible schedule, so be sure to send me a message if you have any additional questions or want to schedule a lesson with me!" less...
