"My name is Alexandra, and I have a BS in Chemical Engineering with a Biomolecular Engineering concentration. I am a published researcher and have confidence in helping others conquer multiple subjects and assignments. While in college, I have tutored classmates, as well as taught children starting at the age of five STEAM topics through fun/practical projects and examples.
I get to know the person I am tutoring so with their strengths and weaknesses, we together can help them succeed. Everyone has a different learning style, so let's take advantage of that. If that means we need to play basketball to help learn multiplication, let's do it! This way, they can learn the material, leave the lesson feeling confident and able to apply what they have learned to similar problems. No child or adult is hopeless and with the will, they can learn and master any lesson.
With patience, practice, and persistence, I will take a kid struggling in math to being able to master the subject. I have scored over 95% on all my high school mathematics exams, as well as excelled in my university math classes with and without using a coded language such as Matlab. Technology is a great asset and can help solve complex problems quickly, however, I encourage and push students I tutor to not be afraid of any math problem so their strong foundation in understanding the material will allow them to solve complex problems with accuracy and time efficiency. I also help with test anxiety students in mathematics and teach them skills and tricks to be able to get the math section done with spare time to check their work.
I have excelled in Material Balance; in labs in classes within Biology, Chemistry, and Engineering labs; as well in advanced classes such as Thermodynamics and Separations. I not only listen and make sure I know where and what you are struggling with, but also get to know my student's learning style, so together we can get you to a better level of understanding. These subjects are challenging and overwhelming and I am glad to bre" less...
