"Hi, I am a graduate student at the University of Maryland researching Psychology and Neuroscience. I obtained my undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University where I majored in Psychology and minored in Neuroscience. During my time at university, I rotated in several neuroscience labs and focused in affective neuroscience in limbic circuitry. I also joined the teaching scholars program and tutored students in neuroscience for two years. This included hosting exam reviews and regular office hours, and providing career advice. I was also an online college algebra tutor, which included going over student's homework problems and creating exam review guides.

For the past two years, I have worked at the National Institute of Health as a research assistant, furthering my knowledge in neuroscience. So far, I have four years of wet lab, behavioral, and data science experience in Neuroscience and I am confident in my ability to tutor others in this field. I also have extensive knowledge in scientific communications, including reading scientific literature and writing academic papers.

I tailor my tutoring approach by taking the time to examine each problem in detail to grow my student's knowledge. I focus on the elaborative rehearsal method, which builds new information on previous information to create an in depth understanding of the material. As someone who works in academia, I know how important it is to connect with the material on a personal level and use it in everyday life.

I previously worked with younger students through a program known as Big Brothers Big Sisters in which I was paired with an elementary school child and assisted them in learning reading, writing, and math. This experience was also helpful in learning how to tutor younger aged students. Overall, I have extensive knowledge of science in the classroom and the lab, and have tutored people of all ages. Thus, I am confident that I can provide online and in person tutoring that will help my students succeed." less...
