"I am Eryn. I graduated from the University of Central Florida in December of 2022 with my Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies. I have two minors, one in Anthropology and the other in History. I have always enjoyed learning about history, but I wanted more variety to my education. (I really enjoyed the variation in requirements and options with my General Associate's of Arts at Northwest Florida State College.) Early on at UCF, I discovered the interdisciplinary program, which let me take a wider variety of courses than a history major would have. Under the IDS program I was able to take classes in history, anthropology, and linguistics. I had discovered anthropology while at NWFSC and was excited to continue learning in that field. As for linguistics, I had long been unusually capable in English grammar, assisting my father with his college papers while I was still middle school age. So, I fine-tuned my abilities with more advanced lessons in grammar and the history of the English language at UCF. In the end, it made for a wider learning experience, which is what I wanted.
Now, I teach English at a small charter school. I have been there since July of 2023, so I am in my first year of teaching. The school takes students ranging from 16-21. Being that it runs as a dropout prevention facility, I engage with students of all kinds of skills, disabilities, and knowledge levels. I enjoy working with that age group, but I would like to expand my experience and assist others through their primary school and college experiences. Not to mention, I really enjoy the one-on-one and would like to expand my income base." less...
