"Hello, my name is Davon,
I have been in the education field for 8 years. My passion for learning stems back to my childhood in volunteer work in my former church with children's church, after school program, vacation bible school and Sunday school in lesson planning and implementing those lessons. As I grew older, I wanted to pursue my interest even more in teaching which led to the field of education, and I have obtained both my associate degree in early childhood education and theology. After obtaining this degree, I started substitute teaching for a year, and then became a teacher's aide/paraprofessional, this has been my role for the past seven (7) years. As I have been working to maintain my teaching certification.
I obtained two bachelor’s Degrees, in English Writing and Seminary/Theology. I am currently working on obtaining my Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education w/Special Education P-3, and my Master of Divinity in Theology. I have extensive work in the field of writing (editing, proofreading, grammatical errors, story/creative writing, etc.), reading (teaching phonics and phonemic awareness how to break down and form sounds of words and letters). My teaching students range as early from Pre-school age (3 years old) to Middle School age (12-13 years old). There is certainly no challenge that I cannot not face, in today's world of education the field's focus is leaning more towards the development of children’s Social Emotional Learning (SEL) due to the world's COVID-19 pandemic. However, this is an important part of our children's success, we cannot stray away from the basics of Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, etc.
I take pride in a 'holistic' approach that focuses on the many/few aspects of learning in why or why not may be difficult to learn certain concepts and how we can make it easier and fun. I tell all my students, "learning can be fun, it's all about how you approach it." I look forward to working with you." less...
