"Hi! I am Carlton and I am currently a science teacher and a graduate student! I enjoy seeing the joy in a student's face when the light bulb finally goes off and everything that seemed impossible to grasp now makes perfect sense. "Hi! I am Carlton and I am currently a science teacher and a graduate student! I enjoy seeing the joy in a student's face when the light bulb finally goes off and everything that seemed impossible to grasp now makes perfect sense. Also, I greatly enjoy watching the steady growth students have, even in the course of a session, and being a small part of helping students grow.
I have a unique educationally, as I currently have a bachelor's degree in the Biological Sciences and I attended medical school for three years at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. Currently, I am working on my master’s degree in Biochemistry with an interest in Metabolic Pathways and Cell Signaling.
I am currently certified to teach all science subjects in my state for grades 7 through 12 and currently teach Physiology and Physics. In the past, I have taught IPC, Chemistry, and Environmental Science in addition. Also, besides my experience teaching for the past 6 years, I have also tutored for both major companies and in private off and on for the past 15 years, focusing on math and science. I have worked in both 1-on-1 settings and with small groups while helping students prepare for the SAT, ACT, EOC Exams and individual course subject tutoring. In the past 4 years, mostly, I have worked with students from 6 grade upwards to students seeking their bachelor's degree, however I do have experience working with students seeking graduate degrees in the biological sciences.
I have worked with students from disadvantaged and diverse backgrounds and with students who have needs for accommodated learning. For example, I worked at the Aya Center in Durham, NC, which focused on children who have emotional and behavioral barriers to learning. Taking a small group of 3-5 students, I used methods such as playing games and activities to help the students learn, but have lots of fun while doing it!
Thanks for stopping by and seeing my profile! I hope you will consider me to be a partner in your academic growth! Onwards and upwards!!!" less...
