"My greatest delight is to help students who are struggling to develop competence, and then confidence. My approach is to seek to get to know the student, discover together their strengths, and tailor my teaching methods to meet their needs and learning styles.
I graduated Summa cum laude (3.82) with a degree in Music Education, after which I began a teaching career in Instrumental Music. I also hold a Master's in Music. Five years ago, I achieved an Endorsement in Elementary Education, K-8. At several junctures in my career, I subbed (while pursuing additional education), working with all grades K-12 and all subjects. After I retired I have spent the last two plus years tutoring online. I have many students with learning disabilities (ADHD, Dyslexia, etc.), with whom I have had a wonderful time getting to know their strengths, and helping them build skills and confidence in specific academics. I also work with a company servicing public schools, supporting small groups students through programed lessons.
I have experience teaching all ages (5-18) in the public and private school settings, and as a tutor I have worked mostly with math (grades 1-10), including Algebra I &II, Geometry, although I also tutor in English, middle school sciences, AP World History. Since 2020 I have had extensive experience teaching online (instrumental music and then tutoring math).

I find a significant part of my tutoring involves working with students (especially those with ADHD and dyslexia) to coach them in the skills of learning; how to take notes in class, how to find the significant information and remember it, connecting the subject information with their previous experiences, etc. I look forward to meeting new students, and beginning the process of building their confidence as learners and in the subject" less...
