"Hi, I'm Kevin! I've been playing guitar for over 20 years, and I absolutely love to play and teach music! I graduated cum laude from Musicians Institute in 2016 with B.A. in Guitar Performance and the 2016 Outstanding Student Award. I worked at Musicians Institute as a teaching assistant until the campus temporarily closed its doors at the beginning of the quarantine. I also taught guitar and ukulele at The Los Angeles Conservatory of Music, and currently teach guitar and ukulele for a music instruction company called The Music Coaches. I'm also the music director and guitar player in my 90s alternative rock cover band. Between private lessons and my teaching assistant work at MI, I have well over a decade of teaching experience.

I love to help students develop their musicality and guitar playing. As an instructor, my job is to guide students on their musical journey. Whether students view music as a fun hobby or aspire to play professionally, my aim is to focus their attention on the methods of playing and practice that will enable them to accomplish their goals. While much of the learning process takes place outside of the classroom (the bandstand, the practice room, time away from music, etc), a music instructor's job is to shine a light on the path students must walk and equip them with the tools they need to flourish on their musical journey.

As a lifelong student and experienced instructor, I believe music education plays a vital role in the development of essential communication and critical thinking skills that students need in order to solve complex problems with empathy and intellect. Learning an instrument improves not only self-discipline, patience, and self-confidence, but also enables students to achieve immense personal growth. My goal is to make lessons informative, fun, and engaging so that my students develop not only a passion for music, but also the self-confidence and self-discipline they need to succeed in life, both on and off the bandstand.
