"Hello! My name is Mark, I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors degree in neurobiology with a minor in global health and health policy from Harvard College. After graduating, I applied for and was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to conduct research in Australia. I completed my PhD in Psychology at Monash University in Melbourne and started as a medical student at Harvard Medical School in the fall of 2021.

I have both tutored other students and been tutored since I was in high school, so I have experience on both sides. My biggest takeaway from these experiences has been the importance of personalizing material and tutoring approaches based on the goals of the students. This helps me to gauge the most effective ways that we can work such that students maximally benefit from sessions.

Having written two theses and applied to competitive colleges, postgraduate fellowships, and medical schools, I understand that writing and applying can be overwhelming. I also know that there are steps to make the process as rewarding as possible, and I enjoy finding ways to make this work with each student.

I have worked with students on essays and applications for undergraduate and graduate colleges and universities. My goal is to help to empower students to identify topics and to use their voice to compose meaningful and compelling essays. Having recently applied to undergraduate colleges (2015), postgraduate fellowships and PhD programs (2018) and medical schools (2020), I understand the process from both sides. I work with students to create a plan for crafting common application essays, personal statements, and supplemental essays.
