"Hi, I'm Aaron! I am a Whitman High School alum, and I graduated cum laude from Haverford College in 2023 with honors in mathematics and a minor in history. I am pursuing a career in mathematics and statistics and will be starting as a PhD student next fall. I am also passionate about language (I grew up in a bilingual household) and subjects in the humanities. During my senior year of high school I tutored middle and high school students through Bethesda Scholars in math (algebra and geometry), writing, and Spanish. I found this experience rewarding both because I was able to help students through difficulties I once encountered, and because I was constantly leaning myself by finding new ways to effectively present material.
Since graduating from college, I have resumed tutoring middle and high school students in math in subjects ranging from introductory algebra and geometry up to college-level linear algebra. Through my experience in upper level math classes in college, I know that diligently working through practice problems is essential to learning the material. Because of this, I supplement my teaching with guiding my students through practice problems and encouraging them to reach the answer on their own. I find that struggling through a problem ultimately leads to a deeper understanding of the material and instills confidence in my students.
I always welcome feedback from my students and their parents in order to make the learning experience as rewarding as possible. I am easy to reach and can provide references upon request. Please reach out if you would like to discuss how I can help meet your needs!" less...
