"I know what you're thinking; it's difficult trying to find the right tutor, isn't it? You want the best for your child. Or you want the best for yourself. You want this financial investment to pay off in tangible ways. Above all, you want to truly feel like you've made the right decision. But don't worry—this is where I come in!
My name is Vaughn. I'm a music educator, a legal intern, and a pre-law candidate at the University of St. Thomas in Houston. Since 2014, I've taught hundreds of students how to play their favorite campfire songs, write original compositions, and improvise melodies over the blues. I bring nearly two decades of experience as a guitar player and band leader. Furthermore, as a Yamaha certified instructor, I've organized music camps for kids ranging from 6 to 12 years old. Along with providing a tried-and-true curriculum, I provide each student with a customized approach. In addition to helping you outline your long-term goals, I will adjust to your immediate needs. And if you're wondering about my qualifications, here's why you can trust me:
I earned my AAS in history—with honors—from Houston Community College. As a double major B.A. candidate, in history and philosophy, at UST—I have done well in my courses. But my grades aren't what's important—it was the critical thinking skills I've honed. Moreover, my legal internship sharpened my ability to distill complex ideas clearly—like breaking down music theory in simple, actionable steps. I've rigorously designed learning frameworks that put you—the student—first.
As a tutor, I endeavor to blend competence, patience, and compassion into my lessons. I will advocate for you. I will advocate for your child. I'm a second-generation American, the eldest of four children, and managed my ADHD for decades. Indeed, I know what it's like to struggle as a beginner.
