"I have been a classroom English teacher for 25 years. I've taught in public high schools and colleges. I was voted favorite teacher when I taught high school and received the highest ranked student evals. in the English dept. at JCTC in Louisville. I also tutored as community service for JCTC in Louisville public schools very successfully. I published a text to teach punctuation and mechanics in plain English--using no grammar terminology--and raised students' grades and test scores significantly by using it (Punctuation is the easiest thing for standardized tests to measure.). I love to teach it and make it simple!

I have taught public speaking and debate as well as English in the high schools and written independent study courses, regular and honors, for all grades of Kentucky high school students. At the college level, I've taught developmental composition, comp.101, 102, and ESL091, 098, 101, and102. I've taught business writing and screenwriting. I've also taught creative writing. Besides my master's degree in secondary education, I have a master's in literature and have taught introduction to lit. classes (my favorite) as well as survey (two semester) classes in American, British, and World lit. I chaired the Literature Program Committee and English Program Award Committee at JCTC. I received the Special Recognition Honor, the highest ranking, from the JCTC Humanities Division.

My familiarity with college admission tests as well as ACT and SAT and GRE testing makes me well qualified to guide students through successful testing situations. After 25 years of composition instruction, I've developed simple yet powerful strategies for helping students write perfect essays and research papers in any subject area. I also speak Spanish, although I'm not Latino, and greatly enjoyed teaching English as a second language. I have all the materials to teach all these courses or supplement your materials as needed.
