"I am a writing mentor. My passion for writing and mentoring other writers stems from my personal experience as a student. I have had wonderful writing mentors, people who spent time with me and given close attention to my work, and my desire to support you in your writing process is rooted in these positive experiences. Many people believe that writing is and act one does alone. Though parts of the process are done in solitude, this assumption neglects huge aspects of the writing process. My goal is to help you at each stage, from brainstorming ideas and developing strong structures for essays to developing strong revising and editing skills.
I hold a B.A. in English from Amherst College and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Oregon. I taught for two years at the University of Oregon, and understand the U of O composition classes (WR121 and 122) inside and out. Let's talk about the question at issue, the enthymeme, and the unstated assumption! I am also an individual who understands the college application and essay writing process. I began my education at a community college and went on to transfer to Amherst College, a small private college consistently ranked as one of the best liberal arts colleges in the country. I received a full scholarship to attend, and I am happy to share my experience and help with college and scholarship essays. I currently work at Lane Community College as a student success coach, and have lots of insight into the application and college transfer process.
I am flexible in my approach and will work with you to develop a path toward success. Single (hour-long) or ongoing sessions are fine. Feel free to text or email with questions. I look forward to working with you!" less...
