"Getting started as an educator was a happy accident in early 2023 when I decided to switch gears from several years as a software engineer. Drawing on my BA in math years prior from the University of Chicago, I began as a calculus tutor at a company with several in-person locations in the SF Bay Area, and gradually expanded my roster to include students at every level of high-school math. Finally, I began to offer SAT and ACT prep, and in taking numerous practice tests as part of training, it was a relief to score at or above my high school marks of 1530 and 35.
I've also been very fortunate to build deep experience in foreign languages. I began studying Chinese in college and later lived & worked in Beijing for over 4 years, which has made me passionate about tutoring students from absolute beginners up to those striving for a 5 on the AP, especially as the language becomes more widely studied worldwide and instructional methods continue to mature. I'm also qualified in French at the high-school level, and I especially enjoy helping intermediate students solidify their fundamentals toward more advanced study.
