"I graduated summa cum laude from Binghamton University with a B.S. in Biochemistry. I originally started as a biology major on the pre-med track, but after taking organic chemistry in my second semester, I fell in love with the subject. I went on to take Organic Chemistry I & II with lab, Bioorganic Chemistry, and Organic Synthesis, and I served as a teaching assistant for Organic Chemistry I & II for 1.5 semesters. Additionally, I organized a small organic chemistry test prep group of 5–10 students, where I created practice problems and guided discussions.
Through my experience tutoring and teaching, I’ve learned that everyone has a unique learning style. As a tutor, my goal is to adapt my approach to match how you learn best. Organic chemistry is often described as more of an art class than a typical science course (as one of my professors put it!), and success in the subject comes from truly understanding mechanisms rather than rote memorization. I especially enjoy breaking down reaction mechanisms, helping students see the logic behind them—just like understanding why 4 × 3 = 12 is more valuable than simply memorizing a times table.
If you're looking for study strategies, struggling to grasp concepts, or feeling lost in class, we’ll work together to reinforce key ideas and fill in any knowledge gaps. I also have a variety of great online resources to share!
Beyond organic chemistry, I’m happy to answer any questions about the pre-med track, as I’m currently applying to medical schools myself. Feel free to reach out, I look forward to helping you succeed!" less...
