"I am a multidisciplinary tutor with a broad liberal arts college education. I have many academic interests and am excited to teach all of them. I first began tutoring in high school, working with elementary school students. Since then, I have taught Spanish and math in a classroom, given private English lessons, and even taught tennis for several years. With these experiences under my belt, I am confident to teach students of all ages.
I have expanded my own knowledge base so that I am able to teach a wide range of subjects. I excelled at the SAT, scoring a 2320/2400, with perfect 800's in the math and writing sections. I performed similarly well on the SAT II Math level II (790) and Spanish (740). I am not a native Spanish speaker but have devoted nearly a decade to learning the language. I can draw on my firsthand experience learning this language to help any student improve their Spanish. After graduating college, I completed a pre-medical post-bacc program and took the MCAT so that I could apply to medical school. I have mastered enough science to be capable of tutoring most science classes college level and below.
My greatest strength is my ability to relate to the struggles students have. I remember learning all the subjects that I’ll be teaching and I likely had the exact same struggles. I have found simple, creative methods for dealing with challenging material that I am happy to share. That said, the most important aspect of teaching for me is to understand how the student learns best, and to help them learn in that style, even if it is completely different from mine.
Looking forward to working with you!" less...
