"I am a third-year aerospace engineering student at The Ohio State University, maintaining a GPA of 3.907. My academic journey has equipped me with a solid foundation in both mathematics and physics, covering subjects such as Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Multi-Variable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Physics (Electromagnetism & Mechanics). This comprehensive background allows me to tackle a wide range of topics with ease and clarity.
My tutoring experience began in high school, where I volunteered at my local library, helping middle school and elementary students with their studies. This early experience taught me the importance of patience and clear communication. In college, I have continued to tutor, focusing primarily on freshman students in engineering courses, as well as calculus and physics. My tutoring sessions have varied from one-on-one interactions to small group settings of up to three students. Each format has its unique advantages: individual sessions allow for personalized guidance, as I can tailor it specifically to the student at hand. While in group sessions, I have seen students flourish through collaborative learning and peer support. For example, one student may ask a question that may help encourage deeper-level thinking for other students.
When tutoring, I employ a methodical approach. Initially, I assess the student’s understanding by observing their problem-solving process through a practice problem. Based on this assessment, I identify gaps in their knowledge and explain the relevant concepts in a broad, accessible manner. If the student struggles to grasp the concept, I present it through different examples to enhance their comprehension. The end goal is for the student to be able to apply relevant concepts. My goal is not just to provide the correct answers, but to ensure that students understand the underlying principles and can apply them independently. This approach helps build their confidence and fosters a deeper understanding of the subject matter." less...
