"Hi, I am Milo and I am a student at Texas State University completing a Bachelor's of Science in Applied Mathematics with minors in computer science and English. I previously completed my Associate's of Science in Mathematics at Austin Community College. I aim to enroll in graduate school and work in academia or college-level education. I am passionate about teaching math and helping students become confident in their skills.
The key to success in mathematics is having a solid foundation in the basics, so my tutoring style centers on reinforcing skills in algebra and trigonometry. I like to utilize a collaborative approach to problem sets. I begin by asking the student what they do and do not know about the material, and then we work together to set up the problem and solve it. I prefer to let the student lead and explain their method of problem solving, and in turn I offer suggestions for improvement. Students find that this method best sets up them up for success at college level mathematics.
I have officially tutored middle school, high school, and college students for about 2 years. I have tutored with students who have learning disabilities such as dyscalculia, ADHD, and other neurodivergences. In high school, I was a member of Mu Alpha Theta and tutored other high school students in math. I currently work my college's math tutoring center. For high school students, I tutor Algebra 1-2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and AB and BC Calculus. For college students, I tutor College Algebra, Calculus 1-3, Differential Equations, Discrete Mathematics, and Linear Algebra. I also tutor high school computer science, physics, chemistry, and English. I mainly tutor one on one or in small groups of 2-3 with homework help and supplemental materials.
I am available to tutor in-person or online. Feel free to reach out and we can discuss the best options for you or your student!" less...
