"Hi! I'm Jamie! I was a high school English teacher for 12+ years, teaching 7th through 12th grade (primarily 10th and 11th), in addition to a range of electives, including creative writing, AP Language and Composition, Word Power, AVID (study skills), graphic design through yearbook, and public speaking. I am NYS certified for ELA, have a master's in Literacy, and graduated summa cum laude at OCC, Le Moyne, and SU.

As a classroom teacher, I loved teaching writing and deep analysis of literature (contemporary and classic). I work with students of all levels of ability and am adept at simplifying complex concepts and helping students to see the relevance of the work they are doing. My primary goal is always to empower my students to eventually be able to do it without me, so I often use a Socratic method of questioning. My students know that my favorite thing is a wrong answer, because wrong answers are a great starting point! In this way, I can meet students where they are at and help them find their way to the next levels of their ability - using their strengths, and helping them strengthen the areas in which they can improve.

Outside the classroom, I also have extensive experience in the financial field, and entrepreneurial scene, and I am a life coach and book writing coach. I work with aspiring authors as their guide and/or editor, helping them to structure, organize, and develop their books and strengthen their writing as they prepare for publication. I also edit and consult on website design, etc. and I am a life coach (certified through Cognitive Coaching) working with teens and young adults to help them navigate relationships, self, life, and their future.
