"Hi, my name is David C. and I am a mathematics enthusiast! I enjoy teaching mathematics and, more broadly, the critical thinking process. I have been a tutor, teacher, and played active roles in various other educational capacities. Generally, the disconnect between classroom teaching and student learning is the specific 1:1 feedback and finding the exact step where misconceptions happen. That is where I come in! My goal with each tutoring session is to develop and encourage student thought and expression in all of their work. We can always find the "right" answer (maybe you've heard of AI?), but my goal is to make sure that the thought process is logical (there are usually multiple correct approaches!). Some might think this approach is too time consuming, but, through experience, I have seen that this greatly increases the quality of work in future assignments.
Why should I be your tutor? I graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics (Class of 2022), have 5+ years in education, and am a US Marine Corps veteran. I have taught high school Geometry, Algebra 2, and AP Precalculus in the Dallas area. During my time at Texas A&M, I tutored for Blinn College and had over 300 lessons where my students rated me as a 5/5 tutor. These sessions included both individual and small group. These sessions covered topics from developmental mathematics all the way up to Calculus topics. I was also a Math Circle facilitator where I spent time leading math enrichment topics for K - 8 students. This involved short mini lessons, guided discussions and group activities. Lastly, I have experience in coaching SAT and ISEE prep for students seeking standard test prep sessions." less...
