"Hi!! My name's Emma and I am entering my senior year at Stony Brook University studying Biochemistry. I absolutely love tutoring students, which is why I am actually considering pursuing a degree in education and becoming a high school teacher. I began tutoring in my senior year of high school and have tutored a wide range of subjects, from Algebra I, to Physics, to SAT and ACT prep!
I have tutored over 60 students (both long term and short term depending on the student's needs) and it is truly such a rewarding experience! The joy I get from tutoring is a huge reason why I am considering becoming a teacher. I think one of the reasons why I connect so well with my students is my approachability and dedication to their studies. I have now tutored over 400 hours and still never get bored of it! I genuinely want to help my students learn and understand the material which they are learning, and I hope to get even more tutoring experience!
I have continued to study math in my college years and have now completed Calculus III and Linear Algebra. Because of this, I feel my understanding of high school math topics has improved and allows me to provide in-depth but easy-to-understand explanations of questions. My goal is to make the concepts easier to grasp for my students. In high school when I took the ACT, I received a 35 on the exam and a perfect 36 on the math section.
I really look forward to gaining new students to tutor! I am very willing to have a flexible schedule, please let me know if you're interested in meeting/scheduling a tutor session! :)" less...
