"Hello, I'm Shivang, a senior in college majoring in Mathematics. My ambition is to pursue a PhD in Mathematics and eventually become a professor. Alongside my major, I have a background in Computer Science and have completed a Software Development Internship at a trading firm. I taught myself how to program as I entered high school, a skill that has proven invaluable in various aspects of my academic and professional life.

In addition, I have always been interested in optimizing learning and using technology to foster learning. During my time at an ed-tech startup, I led the software development team, further honing my skills in educational technology. I am always willing to go out of my way to help my classmates or colleagues pinpoint their area of confusion. My commitment to effective learning extends to my own experiences, as demonstrated by my self-study approach that resulted in a 1520 SAT score.

While in college, I worked part time as a tutor in the math department. This included subjects such as Algebra, Calculus 1, 2, 3, and Multivariable Calculus. Most of this tutoring was one-on-one but it also included small groups of 3-5 students. In addition to this, while in high school, I also tutored students in AP Physics 1 and Pre-Calculus. I also self-studied for AP exams such as in Psychology, Macroeconomics, and Microeconomics, scoring a 5 in them, so I helped these students do the same.

As a tutor, my approach is to first focus on developing good intuition around a subject. I like to tie in new ideas with the student's current knowledge to help increase retention. Once a solid understanding is established, I guide students through focused practice to reinforce their skills.
