"I am an undergraduate student with a strong background in mathematics and biology. In high school, I received an 800 on the SAT II Math Subject Test, an 800 on SAT Math, 5 on AP Calculus BC, 5 on AP Statistics, and a 36 on ACT Math. As a Mathematical Biology major and mathematics minor, I have taken coursework in probability, statistical inference, linear algebra, and multivariable calculus, earning A or A+ in all. I have also taken several chemistry and biochemistry related coursework, serving as a TA for the latter.
I have served as a teaching assistant for statistics and biochemistry. In both of these roles, I would consolidate lecture information into a weekly recitation, provide individualized help through office hours, and hold midterm review sessions for 100+ students. I’ve learned the importance of communication and care as a TA serving as a peer support system beyond academics. I am also a volunteer tutor at a local high school and across my roles, I make it a point to get to know the student I am working with beyond academics to ensure a personal connection.
