"I'm currently an English teacher for fifth to eighth graders at Pope Francis Global Academy, a Catholic school in Chicago and have been employed there since August, 2024. Prior to this, I worked as an English teacher for mostly young adults at Triton College for a year. Before this position, I was an online English tutor at VIPKid for ten years.

VIPKid, if you’re not familiar, provides tutoring services in China to mostly children and adolescents from six to seventeen years old and uses the flipped-classroom model. I also worked independently as an online English tutor to children and adolescents in India via Zoom. When teaching these students, I prepared my own lesson plans and developed 1000 Google slides containing English lessons in writing, vocabulary, grammar, and reading. In terms of developing lesson plans, I consider myself to be highly creative in developing interesting, rigorous lessons.

In terms of my education, I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Journalism from San Diego State University. I also have a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from National University. In addition, I’m a non-fiction writer and have written for several publications, one of which was Lectura Books, a top publishing house for bilingual children in the United States. As such, I consider teaching writing skills to be one of my strengths.
